MAINTENANCE (Burnaby Location)

Position Title: MAINTENANCE

Location: BURNABY

Compensation: $20 – 24/hr (commensurate with experience)

Positioned for growth, we now have a total of 4 stores. In addition to our flagship store in Burnaby, you will see Summit Tools in Port Coquitlam, Kelowna and St. Jerome, Quebec. All our stores have a wide selection of brands with the latest products in the market including a large selection of power tools, accessories and hardware at competitive prices. We proudly serve a broad spectrum of clients from the homeowner or contractor to the industrial user, and we take pride in serving their needs.

Summit Tools is looking for a permanent, full-time Store Maintenance Person based in our Burnaby location. To ensure success in this position, the incumbent will need to have working knowledge of maintenance at the store and office level. In addition to these qualities, we require the following skills:


  • Execute maintenance work orders requested by General Manager in the office and the retail store
  • Organize, Prioritize and execute work orders in timely manner
  • Maintain working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting and drywall work
  • Report maintenance issues to General Manager
  • Accept on-call responsibilities and be in rotation
  • Maintain storage and work areas in neat, safe and secure condition


  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in general facilities maintenance
  • Must have 3-5 years of basic welding experience (light fabrication)
  • Must have 3-5 years of basic electrical experience (basic wiring, changing ballasts etc.)
  • Must have minimum of 3 years of basic plumbing experience
  • Must have 3-5 years of basic woodworking and carpentry skills
  • Must have relevant maintenance certification(s)
  • Must be flexible to work occasional night and weekend shifts
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and think logically
  • Must have a high proficiency using hand and power tools
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to complete tasks in tight time frames
  • Ability to sit or stand for long hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working  with a ladder


  • Must have completed Grade 12
  • Must have post-secondary education directly related to maintenance
