Position Title:  SALES ASSOCIATE

Compensation: $17 - $22

Positioned for growth, we now have a total of 4 stores. In addition to our flagship store in Burnaby, you will see Summit Tools in Port Coquitlam, Kelowna and St. Jerome, Quebec. All our stores have a wide selection of brands with the latest products in the market including a large selection of power tools, accessories and hardware at competitive prices. We proudly serve a broad spectrum of clients from the homeowner or contractor to the industrial user, and we take pride in serving their needs.

Reporting to the Assistant Store Manager, the Sales Associate (SA) position is critical to the success of Summit Tools. We are seeking a team player who is self-motivated with a strong background in retail sales. The SA will leverage their knowledge and passion in the tool industry to cultivate strong relationships and consistently go the extra mile to provide an on-going exceptional customer service experience.

The SA knows the importance of organizing and putting away stock, maintaining a clean and easy to navigate store, accuracy of sales tags, keeping the right product in the right location, all the while keeping in mind that the customers’ needs are our number one priority.


  • Proactively engage, assess, and anticipate the needs of customers
  • Identify innovative solutions for customers by way of product knowledge and applicable recommendations
  • Ensure the store presentation is aligned with store standards (i.e. clean, organized, fully stocked)
  • Communicate effectively with key staff members to ensure flawless execution of day to day operations resulting in strong sales performance
  • Share knowledge of tools, best practices, and provide guidance and support to team members as required
  • Actively participate, help develop, and contribute to sales training initiatives


  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of solid retail sales experience
  • Proven ability to excel in a retail sales environment
  • Must have proven sales strategies
  • Experience in the tool or closely related industry is considered an asset


  • Must have the ability to be personable and social with customers
  • Must have a passion for tools or a closely related industry
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively and always be mindful of the customer
  • Must be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds
  • Ability to be resourceful and mechanically skilled is considered an asset


  • Must have completed Grade 12
  • Some post-secondary or sales related training is considered an asset

The position entails working 5 days (Saturday’s are mandatory for all staff) for 40 hours, with 2 days off per week.
