KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Senior Management with respect to IT strategic and tactical planning, including determining direction, facilitating implementation of initiatives and integrating technological acquisitions, as same relate to supporting achievement of corporate business objectives
  • Develops an IT organizational structure to support corporate growth, including hiring and supervising IT staff and providing guidance and mentoring to promote professional development and to create a skilled team of IT professionals
  • Plans, develops, and manages all IT services, requirements, specifications, programs and technological support throughout the Company, including planning and/or providing end-user training as required
  • Manages purchasing of technology related assets and determines through analysis, the related life span of the hardware and software
  • Provides internal IT user support (server security, software updates, hardware maintenance, etc.) and oversee the acquisition, implementation, deployment and operation of information systems and technology-based solutions that address business needs, including creating and delivering business cases to support technology acquisitions
  • Liaises with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition of technology purchases and review, approve and oversee warranties and service agreements
  • Researches, designs, and implements the appropriate technologies to support and improve corporate communications, access to information, and end-user productivity
  • Optimizes the use of social media for business purposes and oversee Website functionality and development
  • Oversees project management for IT-related undertakings, ensuring that applicable project management practices are followed through the project(s) lifecycle, including clear capture of business requirements, provision of functional deliverables, milestone planning and project post-mortems
  • Defines the scope in developing and managing the budget for technology, IT services, and personnel
  • Provides assistance relating to Nupro requirements to end user, and follows up on end user requests and difficulties with the Nupro Team.
  • Conducts regular capacity reviews and planning for network bandwidth, storage requirements, messaging, Web sites, and other applications
  • Creates status reports as required and present same to Senior Management
  • Acts as advocate for the IT Department and its initiatives
  • Acquires maintains and demonstrates a high level of knowledge regarding new or emerging trends and technologies that will provide clear benefits to the Company, its business partners and/or its customers
  • Promotes knowledge and understanding of corporate policies, practices and procedures regarding health and safety and the environment and commit to personal compliance with same
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience is required
  • 5 - 7 years’ work experience in an IT management capacity is required; relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Advanced overall knowledge of networking, operating system, and server architectures
  • Strong overall knowledge of programming concepts, software development cycles, and associated tools and platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of Web design/application principles and tools and expertise regarding social media
  • Knowledge of applicable IT law and associated regulations and guidelines
  • Experience managing budgets for an IT Department
  • Proficiency with VPN networks, firewalls, encryption, and other aspects of network security technologies
  • Highly effective project management skills and prioritization skills
  • Effective leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills, as well as solid negotiating and troubleshooting skills and a strong focus on customer service
  • Self-directed with ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, including ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences
  • Travel and/or extended hours of work may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Lifting or moving up to 20 lbs may be required
